One of the most terrifying snowmobile videos we’ve ever seen is in the process of going viral across the Internet.

We really don’t have many details, but the video itself speaks volumes. Some unfortunate snowmobiler takes his sled high up a mountain in what seems like a competition of some sort. Just as he’s about to reach the apex of the climb, the front end lifts up and rider falls off the snowmobile and begins a fast and frightening trip back down the mountain. He was wearing a helmet cam for his trip, so the video you’ll see below is all from his perspective.

The mountain really doesn’t see that steep while he’s climbing it, but that perspective changes quickly when you see how fast he careens down the hill.

Perhaps the most stunning thing about this video is that the snowmobiler seems largely unharmed.

Spend a few minutes snooping around YouTube and there’s no telling what you’ll stumble across. We were able to find a feature on snowmobiling by the late, great ABC News anchor Peter Jennings. Who knew such a thing existed?

This was a bit of a strange video. Not only do we see Jennings racing a snowmobile, but he also tells us how snowmobiling will make you a hit with the ladies and will have you hanging out with the “in crowd.”

This was shot before Jennings was a world famous newscaster. In fact, the video was produced by Bombardier Ltd., maker of Ski-Doo snowmobiles, so there may have been just a little bias. Still, this is a fantastic piece of snowmobiling history and is well worth checking out.
