It was a weekend of both ecstasy and agony for the Scheuring Speed Sports team at this weekend’s stop of the ISOC’s AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series in Elk River, Minn.

Robbie Malinoski captured his third AMSOIL Pro Open victory of the season on Friday after railing the outside lane at the start of the main event and never looking back. The result temporarily propelled Malinoski into second in the championship chase and continued to build on momentum carried throughout the last five straight weeks of racing.

Darrin Mees was the number three qualifier on Friday and finished in the sixth spot, retaining his position in the standings.

Saturday started on a positive note and appeared to hold more of the same as Malinoski went 1-1 in qualifying and was among the lead pack at the start of the final. Unfortunately, a crankshaft counterweight worked itself free as Malinoski was charging through a rhythm section, causing the motor to lock up and sending the sled cartwheeling off the track.

Although he was temporary dazed, Malinoski is already looking forward to the upcoming event in Lake Geneva, Wis.

“The points are what they are so now it’s just about going out there and getting more wins,” says Malinoski.

ERX Motorpark was another new venue for the series and featured an outstanding track situated in a bowl that was surrounded by over 10,000 spectators on Saturday night.
