2007 Switchback 600 CFI owners review

After 2,690 miles, I'd have to say my 2007 Switchback 600 CFI is one of the smoothest running, consistently reliable snowmobiles I've owned and ridden in my 30 years of riding. This is the 19th Polaris snowmobile I've owned and the best Polaris so far.



Gas mileage is decent (not as good as adver...tised) and oil consumption is within my "acceptable range." I ride with my friends who have a '08 700 Switchback and two '09 600 eTec Ski Doo Renegades. All four sleds are competitive with each other in every way except fuel and oil consumption. I beat the 700 Switch but don't hold a candle to the eTec's.

My Switchback with the 144" uncoupled rear suspension is far superior in the deep snow compared to the '08 Switch and '09 eTec's. I am the one breaking trail for these guys to follow when the snow gets deep and we head off trail....exactly why I bought this model.

One complaint I have, and it is significant, is the build up of ice under the tunnel, particularly under the seat. I've had many trips delayed while I worked feverishly to chisel out the ice that freezes to the top of the tunnel right before the heat exchanger. I've had a chunk of ice break off and lodge itself in the front of the tunnel, causing the track to lock up and for me to almost flip over the handle bars. On two occasions this has happened and both times I "hour glassed" my expensive drive belt trying to get the ice out and the track unlocked. This is a very poor engineering design that Polaris addressed with the '08 Switchback however they never came up with a fix for the '07's.

I plan to ride this sled a least a few more seasons and will likely keep it as a spare instead of trading it in. It's that reliable, that comfortable and that fun. Opt for the tall touring windshield and have a great ride whether on or off the trail.

5000 miles

I have over 5000 miles on my 600 H0. Did a compression test at the beginning of the season, both cylinders were 120. New it is 125, I have been very impress with this sled. I will have to rebuild the shocks at the end of this season. Great sled.
