Overall Impression : Located almost entirely on former railroad grounds, the 49 mile trail between Park Rapids and Cass Lake was one of the first rail-to-trail projects in the U.S.. Most of the trail is level except for a four mile segment north of Walker featuring sharply rolling terrain.
Condition on day of Ride :
Trail Feature : The trail passes through hardwood forests with jack, red and white pine. Whitetail deer and muskrat are commonly seen, but if you keep your eyes open, you might spot a bobcat or a black bear. Several birds including the bald eagle also live in the area.
