Deteriorating snow conditions have forced USXC Racing to cancel the Winnipeg to Willmar, MN I-500.

The multi-day cross country snowmobile race was scheduled to start on Wednesday, February 8 in Winnipeg, Man.

Originally slated for four days of racing, organizers changed the route late last month and eliminated a day of racing due to poor snow in Minnesota. Now the race has been cancelled altogether.

“The conditions were marginal prior to the rain and 40 degree temperature Wednesday, January 27th,” USXC said in a release. “We will reschedule for 2017.”

This is the second straight year the race has been cancelled due to poor snow conditions. Organizers were expecting more than 300 entries with racers from all over the United States and Canada. The total purse should have been close to $100,000 with $25,000 going to the winner.
