Northern Michigan’s snowmobile trails played host to five Michigan House lawmakers for a two-day tour, Feb. 20-21.

House Republican Leader Kevin Elsenheimer, Reps. Wayne Schmidt, Marty Knollenberg, Tom Pearce and Phil Pavlov, along with Michigan Snowmobile Association Executive Director Bill Manson, made the trek around several Northern Michigan communities aboard snowmobiles.

The state lawmakers make the trip annually to see for themselves how the snowmobile industry contributes the area’s local economies.

“The snowmobile tour has become an annual opportunity for us to share with our colleagues from the south part of the state another flavor of what makes Northern Michigan special,” Elsenheimer told the Gaylord Herald Times. “Seeing firsthand what the recreational snowmobiling offers and experiencing the great hospitality of our local communities provides a wider prospective for the needs and challenges in our districts.”
