World champion snocross racer and X-games champion Blair Morgan suffered a severe spinal injury in a crash while practicing for Montreal Supercross at Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Que. on Sept. 20.

“During Saturday afternoon practice in Montreal, Blair sustained substantial injuries to his middle back,” Terry Morgan, Blair’s wife, says in a release. “A surgery was performed and went well, however it was soon discovered that as a result of the vertebrae separating from each other on impact, Blair’s spinal cord was severed, leaving him with paralysis from his middle back down.”

According to Terri Morgan, her husband was taken off the ventilator shortly after his surgery and has been progressing well.

“I know as most of you do as well, Blair is a fighter and this incidence will not keep him down for long,” says Terri Morgan. “He is working closely with his physiotherapist, occupational therapists and the hospital staff on his recovery.”

Terri Morgan says that her husband is dealing very well with the experience and has a positive and focused attitude.

“I have been watching Blair stay strong and work hard for the past six days since the accident and all I can say is how proud I am of him and how much of a fighter he is in any situation,” says Terri Morgan.
