2007 Yamaha Phazer FX

Phazer FX , 3rd season

Bought new Oct/06. Had a few upgrades done on recall, all paid for by Yamaha. Only one I was aware of was ice buildup on the sled due to open tunnel and snow melting on the exhaust, then freezing onto the machine, 40 or 50 pounds of ice after a powder run. Side panels installed over tunnel helped..., but still a problem. New Phazers have a plate over the tunnel that keeps the heat away from the snow being kicked up by the track. I have 5000 km on the sled. Change the oil and filter, lube, each season, like a car. Totally trouble free so far. Great reliability, starts easily, 200 km on a 30 litre tank. ( about 20 mpg Canadian, 17 U.S.)
Did a 400 km (250 mile)run one day and my back felt fine, unlike other machines I have owned; rider fwd and superb suspension are wonderful innovations. Would be nice to see swing open panels like Ski Doo has rather than the screws - they fall into the snow; have to remove your mits to access. Read Full Review

Only 1 problem

The only problem I had with mine was the tremandous ICE build up in the tunnel until i put the kit to solve that problem $85 at a yammy dealer to close off the tunnel. no more ice Read Full Review

Dirt Bike Snowmobile

I bought this new, sometime in 2007. After sitting on it in the showroom I knew that there was nothing else like it. Now fast forward to 2018 when I now decide to write this review. There are a lot of perks and curses that most if not all Phazer's have which I will summarize.



Pros:



Great ri...ding position
High handlebars
Very decent amount of suspension Front and Rear.
Plenty of low Rpm power, Overall smooth powerband
Very decent gas mileage, Low Maintenance Engine
Cool design--looks alien or insect like
Purpose built engine with a sled wrapped around it
Easy transition from sitting to standing
Somewhat decent Aftermarket

Now the bad news....

Cons:

Suspension poorly calibrated and Soft
Bitch to work on, everything shoehorned together.
Inherent servo reverse issues
A few serious recalls
High center of Gravity means tipping in corners
Inside ski lift/crappy skis
Open tunnel causing ice build up
track lugs and length too short (1.25"+ and 137" better)
Electric Start only
Can't even check spark plugs without tearing half of the machine apart.

great sled

now I like to go sleddign to get away from my wife and meet up with kevin schalm to play broke back mountain so I dont get in much ridding time well sled anyways I get plenty of riding time on my man kevin my wife hates the sled though she says everytime I gor away for the weekend on it I come back ...with a bloody asshole but little does she know its not from the sled thanks kevin I enjoy our time together Read Full Review
