BRP has filed a preliminary prospectus with the necessary securities regulatory bodies in Canada for a proposed initial public offering of subordinate voting shares. Should things go according to plan, non-controlling shares of the company will be available on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The Financial Post reports BRP hopes to raise CN$250 million (US$243 million).

BRP produces many different kinds of vehicles including snowmobiles, watercraft, ATVs, side-by-sides and the Can-Am Spyder Roadster. The company controls several brands including Can-Am, Sea-Doo, Ski-Doo, and Rotax.

2013 Iron Dog Classic PodiumFor the second straight year, Ski-Doo X-Team racers Dusty VanMeter and Marc McKenna fought their way to victory in the world’s toughest snowmobile race – the Iron Dog Classic. Ski-Doo snowmobiles secured four of the top five finishing positions in this year’s race.

The Iron Dog snowmobile race covers over 2000 miles (3200 km) of rugged Alaskan terrain that tests the toughest of men and machines in the worst of weather conditions. McKenna and VanMeter ran towards the front of the pack for most of the race as their experience and strategy served them well. They were the fastest into the halfway point at Nome and ran a strong southbound leg to wrap up the race, choosing their course and rest points carefully, eventually winning by 48 minutes.

Adam RenheimSki-Doo X-Team racer, Adam Renheim bested the field to win the 2013 FIM World SnowCross Championship in Tuuri, Finland in front of 25,000 fans.

Renheim, a Swedish Snocross champion, started his year off racing in North America for Warnert Racing before moving back to Europe to defend his national title and make a run at the World Championship. But he didn’t make the World Championship task easy with a crash during qualifying that relegated him to the Last Chance qualifying session to make the big show. Renheim made up for the slow start by winning the first of three races that determine the championship, and finished second in the next two to wrap up the overall title. This was Ski-Doo’s first ever win in the World Championship.

Joe Parons X Games 2013Ski-Doo riders had a successful weekend at the Winter X 2013, earning seven medals in the snowmobile competitions.

Joe Parsons topped all snowmobile competitors, collecting medals in each of the three events he entered, including silver in Freestyle and Best Trick. Parsons stepped up his game to carry the torch when his teammate and defending Best Trick winner Heath Frisby suffered two hard practice crashes on Thursday.

Frisby was forced to withdraw from the Freestyle competition and limped through the Speed and Style event, in which Parsons earned the bronze medal. Frisby did take part in Best Trick on Sunday night and appeared to have a winning run when he threw out his signature Underflip, but judges saw it differently. In his second run, Frisby tried to raise the bar even higher with a variation, but was unable to land the trick. Still, Frisby earned a bronze medal for his efforts. Parsons then unleashed his Gator Wrestler backflip and added a new twist by landing it backward to the roar of the crowd, earning the silver.
